That is the promise of whiteness. Soon, as our country continues to regress, only land-owning cis heterosexual white men were white, everyone else were not provided with the protections of whiteness. Lynchings truly fascinate me. I was shocked to learn some had audiences of over 20,000 people. We have been taught that it was the poorest drunk white folk who lynched black folk, but it was actually the wealthiest, most upstanding members who were involved. It is wild to me that the nose, ears, and other body parts were given out as mementos. I want to hear the stories of the sons and daughters, grandchildren of those who participated in lynching another human being. Was this information shared at the dinner table?
