Lynchings truly fascinate me. I was shocked to learn some had audiences of over 20,000 people. We have been taught that it was the poorest drunk white folk who lynched black folk, but it was actually the wealthiest, most upstanding members who were involved. It is wild to me that the nose, ears, and other body parts were given out as mementos.
