Thank you for sharing this with us. Why Race? I have been exploring this myself. I grew up in an all white enviroment. I went to an all white college. It was at law school that I had a number of non-white peers. However, during the pandemic and then with the BLM uprising during the summer of 2020 I started to see that whiteness start to erode. Many of my white people were starting to feel what it means to be black. When grocery stores shelves went empty, welcome to a food dessert. Your kid's school is bad, becaue now you are the teacher, welcome to the lived experience of black people. Now with Dobbs white women are losing bodily autonomy. With the preview of attacks on same-sex marriage will impact white gay men harder than any other group. I remember Irish were not white, until they were white. Italians were not white until they were white. Whiteness can be given and it can be taken away. Exploring race allows us to understand our rights more clearly. It shows us the power and the changes in society. Let us not forget that it used to be only land-owning men were considered white. It looks like we are heading back to that time, that is why race is so important.
