Thank you for confronting the truth. I never experienced it, not when we read To Kill A Mockingbird and we see Scout disarm the mob by mirroring their humanity back to them.

I think that is why I never enjoyed history, because I felt I was being lied to. I wish I had a teacher who was bold enough to grapple with our complicated shared history.
