I agree that everyone was involved. Senator Sanders proudly showed photos of him marching in the 50s and 60s. My argument is that we fail to take the accounts of the rank-and-file that worked to uphold white supremacy. For example, there are zero accounts of the people who harassed and dumped milkshakes over the lunch-counter protestors. We have zero narratives of slaveholding wives. Right now, I suggest, we need to take the narratives of those who are in the MAGA movement.

That is the purpose of the article: to interrogate why we fail to have first-hand accounts of those who fought tirelessly to promote and support an immoral institutions.
