Best prepared troops refuse to fight
As a matter of fact, it’s safe to say that they would rather switch
Than fight” — Fight The Power by Public Enemy

Dear white women:

I have watched you be progressive as f@&k. I have seen you march with your pink pussy hats in the various women’s marches, only to find a Republican guys who concealed their political beliefs from you at the beginning of the courtships. For some unknown reasons you shared and asked about everything but your values. Accordingly, you fell for them. These men had good careers. They were handsome. When they cleaned-up, they actually smelled good. These dudes even wanted to have children. Some went as far as telling you that they wanted the woman they married to stay home and raise the kids, like their mother did…like your mother did. Many came from a good families, families like yours. Your parents adored them and your friends vibed with Them. You had finally met the men of your dreams.

Only after you had fallen for these men, did their infatuation with Ben Shapiro get leaked in a rather innocuous conversation. The church that you two started going to preached about the role of the woman to serve the man, and for the man to be the provider and protector of his wife and the family. Sermons were preached about what it means for men to be the head of the household. When George was murdered the Church gently waded into the conversation of how Christians should deal with the issue of race. Nothing, extreme, just that some of our black brothers and sisters in Christ are treated unfairly because of their race, and that truthful statement was met was a loud rebuke from the congregation. In some cases there was a schism in the church, because the Pastor had the audacity to acknowledge that we are no longer living in The Dream. The board of elders had to have an emergency meeting to conduct damage control, because the situation was too dire to wait for Sunday for a statement to be made to contain the fallout.

You started to sense things were not right. However, despite your education, despite your lived experience, you voted for Donald Trump or your husband/boyfriend voted for Donald Trump. How did we get here…how did you get here?

Gotta give us what we need
Our freedom of speech is freedom or death
We got to fight the powers that be” — Fight The Power by Public Enemy

You never talked about your values with your mate? Over wine or while taking a peaceful stroll you never asked why do you think so many white male judges think that the future of a convicted rapists was more important than the community and the victim obtaining justice? You never stared into his eyes and asked him why is it ok for a man who does the same job as a woman to get paid more, if they do the job at the same level of competency? At no point did you ask him should you or any other person capable of giving birth be able to terminate their pregnancy for any reason they choose. You avoided these conversations. You ignored the red flags. When he spoke about things that you knew were not true, you held your tongue at first. Overtime, you started to agree with the misinformation, despite knowing better.

In college, you read Dworkin, Morrison, Plath, Egan and other authors. You studied women studies. You have been subjected to watching mediocre men engage in the most churlish conduct with few to none consequences for their behavior. Yet, you know if a woman even puts some authority in her voice she gets labeled as being a variety of pejorative terms. Your education and your lived experiences know that this is not right, yet here we are…why?

The sign of a free nation is being able to determine when and with whom you start a family. This freedom, that so many of us took for granted, has been ripped away from us. As a man let me tell you the dirty little secret: men benefit equally, if not more, from abortion. Due to my rank in Arizona politics, I have had dozens of women tell me they have had abortions. Yet, I have never heard of one man telling me that his partner/lover/wife/girlfriend/fling/side-piece/etc. had an abortion, why? It is overwhelmingly, white men who vocally oppose abortion. The next highest demographic is white women. In the Culture we have several pejorative words for black folk who turn their back on their own people for their own gain. Do you have similar words?

With all that said, we, need you to win this election for the rest of us. Me and others have ran the numbers and we need between 6 to 9% of you to switch your votes. If we can accomplish this, we can save our Republic, but it comes down to you. I’m not asking something that we are not willing to do. In 2020/2021, it was black people who rose to meet the moment. We flipped Wisconsin, delivered Pennsylvania, we brought it home in Georgia twice. We won Michigan and we sent over 70,000 black people to the polls in Arizona, that no one saw coming who all voted for Democrats. We have done our part and now it is your turn to save us.

I know that is a lot to lay at your feet. The fact that you were only allowed the franchise in 1919 and you now have to be the ones that save the Republic is not fair. I understand, because black folk only got the franchise in 1965 and we had to save our Democracy in 2020/21. Yet, here we are. We need between six and nine percent of white women to switch their votes from Republicans to Democrats in November.

We would not ask, if you were not capable of doing it. This means talking to your mothers, grandmothers, sisters, nieces, daughters, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, cousins and your female friends about your values. Hell it means talking to your husband, boyfriend, father, grandfather, brother, son, father-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, nephews, grandson, cousins, and your male friends about your values. Look at our foster-care systems and look at the outcomes of those trapped inside. Do we as a society actually care about people? No. The right uses fetuses, because they are the perfect demographic. They can’t speak or push back on any narratives. Once they are born, they are not either their parents or the state’s responsibility, not the Republicans. Inadequate housing, the GOP says the parents should work harder. Lack of food, the GOP retorts by saying that the parents should get a better job. The Republicans can go all-in for fetuses but abandon them once they are born.

“What we need is awareness, we can’t get careless” — Fight The Power by Public Enemy

We stopped having conversations about our values, but it is time for us to start. That is why I am, and so many others, are asking you to save America this November.
