Defund the police is a classic Overton Window. It forces the other side to cede the middle and we are able to pull them more to the left. In that sense, with that lense, Defund the Police is the perfect solgan. I want to pick up on two points: the reason every political party does not want to defund the police is because it is the highest paying job for an unskilled and a non-college educated white man to have. I like how you reprpose that to black men. I wrote a piece about that called Verbal Intercorse. Second, a black officer is 28% less likely to use force than a white officer. A black officer with an assoicate degree is 53% less likely to be assaulted by the public, and a black officer with a 4-year degree is 67% less likely to have a claim of misconduct made against him than a white officer without a college degree. We need to get creative about how to best protect police officers and our communities, none of those conversatons would take place without "Defund the Police" as poor of a slogan as it is, nothing in the past 50 years have moved the conversation forward about the nature of policing than Defund the police.
