My name is Garrick A. McFadden, Esq., and I want to be a writer. I want to earn a living from the words I commit to paper or pixels. To be fair, I have earned a living with my words for the past twenty years. I would use them in courtrooms on behalf of my clients. I would write them and submit briefs, memos, letters, and motions on their behalf.

Now, I want to make a living by writing about interesting things. I want to explore questions that we refuse to address. I want to visit locations around the United States where black people have been lynched, assassinated, and annihilated so that I can bear witness to the atrocities that have plagued our society. I want the dead to know that someone has come to bear witness to their suffering. I want to sit in these locations, some remote and others located in the open, and listen to see what the wind tells me. I want to search the flora and fauna for the answers to the questions that plague me.
